The Conservation Commission was established on the basis of Title III, Chapter 36 of the NH RSAs "for the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources and for the protection of watershed resources of said city or town."

The commission is to consist of three to seven members, appointed by the selectmen. One member may be also be on the planning board. Members are to be appointed for one-, two-, and three-year terms with their terms staggered so that about one-third of the members' terms expire each year.

As noted in the table, volunteers are sorely needed.
