On Tuesday March 9, 2010, some 639 Allenstown voters decided on the town budget, the school budget, dozens of warrant articles, and elected many candidates to office.
Turnout was light considering the fact that there are 2833 register voters in town. The result is that 22% of the voters decided the outcome of millions of dollars in spending for the other 78% who stayed home. Talk about the tail wagging the dog!
If you are reading this page and you did not vote in the last election, you should reconsider your lack of involvement and pledge now to exercise your civic responsibility to help improve the town financially and culturally with your positive involvement.
The links which follow provide details on all the 2010 town warrant articles, including the town budget, school district warrant articles, candidates and winners for town offices, and candidates and winners for school district offices in an easy to read format with commentary collected at town meetings and from discussions with various town officials.
The goal of this presentation was threefold:
- To give town residents the exact text of the 25 town warrant articles, school warrant articles, town candidates, and school candidates in advance of entering the voting booth.
- To provide this information via the Internet and thereby avoid the need for voters to physically travel to the few locations in town where the information is publicly posted.
- To help voters make more informed decisions by giving them ample time to study each warrant article, and by including some background information to consider.
