Town Hall Check town web site for current business hours. In this hotly contested election, the NH Secretary of State reported that 626,823 votes were cast statewide and the Allenstown Town Clerk reported that 1,766 ballots were cast in town. Allenstown voters selected virtually all the Republican candidates. Voters decided that Alan Turcotte (D) should replace incumbent Matt Pitaro (R) for the Merrimack District 11 position. It was disappointing that the rest of the state did not model the wisdom of Allenstown voters. This was a large turnout of "registered voters" who became "likely voters." This shows that you should discount opinion polls that tally registered voters because most of them stay home on election day. On the hand-written election results posted on the town web site, it was amusing to see that Mike Michaud received one write-in vote for just about every position on the ballot.
