Free Weekly Concerts

July 8, 2018

The Pembroke Recreation Commission is offering a not very well advertised series of free weekly music concerts at Memorial Field, Pembroke. The town web site shows that the concerts were not posted in Town News until July 16th.

They have lined up several local performers so as to continue the concerts through the summer until late August. The Saturday night concerts begin at 6:00 p.m.

What Groups Are Performing?

June 23 – Dusty Gray
Country music recording artist Dusty Gray of Concord, NH entertained visitors with a not to be missed peformance. Due to scant advertising, this writer missed that concert.

July 7 – Green Heron
Scott and Betsy Heron performed a medley of old-time folk, bluegrass, and country music. They put on a fabulous show, doing high energy bluegrass interspersed with slow mellow numbers. They performed on acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. Betsy had a masterful command of the fiddle and banjo.

July 21 – Scalawag
Get ready to rock! This is a group of highly talented musicians that lean towards great songs – both originals and cover – that always caught your ear and stayed there for a lifetime.

Sept. 8 – Dean Harlem
(Rescheduled from Aug. 4)
Dean Harlem is a rising star in the New Hampshire scene, an Americana, roots, and country singer/songwriter based out of Epping. He brings a passionate grit and a style all his own playing originals and covers of some of Outlaw Country's legends.

Sept. 15 – Jen Witt
(Rescheduled from Aug. 11)
Speaking of voices, Jen will Dazzle you not only with her voice but her full presence as she performs songs from her own catalog and her favorite cover too.

Where is Memorial Field?

Memorial Field is located at the confluence of the Suncook and Merrimack Rivers. The park borders the north shore of the Suncook River and the east shore of the Merrimack River. Access to the park is from Pleasant St. or Front St. in Suncook Village.

Once in the park, go left toward the playground. The performers will be up on the open stage to the left.

What You Can Do

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, some cold water or soda, and enjoy a musical evening in the park. If it's not too late for the kiddies, bring them along. If they should lose interest in the concert, there is a playground across from the stage.
