If you can help out, contact the EDC general mailbox at economicdevelopment@allenstownnh.gov The following photos and video show Highway Dept. personnel using the Zamboni machine to smooth the ice on Jan. 12, 2022. This procedure gives skaters a safe, smooth surface on which to skate.
On the night of Jan. 14, several ice rink volunteers braved the freezing cold to resurface the rink with a top coat of cold water. In the photo, most of the rink had been flooded to the right (the north end) and the hose crew was working its way to the left edge of the rink. They used a 100-foot hose with a rigid section at the outlet end to allow better control of the water. Due to the weight of the hose, it required several people to maneuver it across the ice and prevent kinking. Ice Rink Coordinator Ron Adinolfo stated this. "It took a total from start to finish, which included setting up the hose lines, about one hour. The time it took to surface the rink was about 20-25 minutes. We had a great crew and everything worked very well for our first time resurfacing the rink with the hose line."
