A Town Cleanup Event

Dateline: May 9, 2024

^&
At the May 6th selectmen's meeting, resident Matt Conway announced that he was organizing a town cleanup event on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Rain or shine.)

The focus will be to cleanup roadsides in town but exclude Route 3 and Route 28 since they are state roads and volunteer safety would be an issue.

Matt explained his motivation this way. "On a morning walk, I was inspired by my neighbor, Karen, collecting trash on her own route. We started chatting about the litter, and the thought occurred to me. I'm sure other town residents would love an opportunity to beautify Allenstown if we held a community event that people could rally around. The notion: 'If not you, then who?' rang in my head, and I decided I better do something about it."

He solicited residents with this call to action.

"Many hands make light work!"

"Help us to beautify Allenstown."

"Join us for the first annual Community Cleanup Day."
