The Child Care Center on Route 28

The new child care center, It Takes a Village, is located at 44 Pinewood Rd. (Route 28), Allenstown near the Elliot Clinic. The center opened the end of October. You can contact Maranda Donnelly or Maureen Bird at ittakesavillage.allenstown@gmail. com to book a tour and enroll.

Some of the final details that needed completion before opening to the public included getting state approval for their child care license and getting a pipe bored under Route 28 to connect to the town water line. There is a septic system onsite.

Why Allenstown?

Manager Maranda Donnelly explained it this way. "We have been eager to expand and are thankful for the opportunity to open a larger center in Allenstown. Our new location in Allenstown will make for a smooth transition as it is right down the road from our existing location in Pembroke. Families will be able to make the switch with very little impact to their routines and commute. Being located near the intersection of Routes 28 and 3 makes it accessible to not only Allenstown families, but to communities around the area."

Primary Services

When asked about business experience, Ms Donnelly stated that "It Takes a Village originally opened in Pembroke and has been operating as a small 12 child, care center for the past 5 years." "As for services offered, the facility provides child care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. We offer child care, after school care, and summer care for school age children. The most popular services are full-time child care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers."

Community Outreach

Residents appreciate it when a business provides more than goods and services. Here is how Ms Donnelly chose to express the ways this child care center will reach out to the community.

"Different things we have done to help in the community are opening on weekends for military families, hosting parent night out events, running holiday drives for families in need, and giving back through charitable donations with the help of organizations or just direct giving to families.

"We hope to connect with local instructors of all sorts to provide children with evening or weekend learning opportunities, for example, by hosting an art or music class in the evening for school age children as an extracurricular activity."

Plans for the Near Future

Ms Donnelly said "Our hope is to continue to grow and give back to our village."
