Goods and Services

[Allenstown EDC Reporter (EDC)] What types of goods and services does your business offer to customers?

[Fiber 'n Forge (FnF)] Before opening this shop, we had participated in many large craft fairs. But with the work of travel, setup, breakdown, and anxiety about the weather, we decided to open a real shop. Having an indoor space allows all three of us to showcase more of our handcrafted products.

We offer only handcrafted gifts. Everything in the store is handmade by either myself, Paula (Fiber), my daughter-in-law, Tammysue (Forge) or my granddaughter, Ariel (Resin).

Our products include embroidered towels, hooded towels, hand knits, glass plates, glass bowls, glass tea lights and night lights, resin pendants, resin key chains and badge reels, and much more. We are always adding new items to the store.

We also personalize and ship. Our web site makes it easy to order, personalize, purchase, and ship all of our products.

Most Popular Product or Service

[EDC] What would you consider to be the most popular product or service that you offer?

[FnF] Our hooded towels have been our biggest seller. They are great for children from toddlers to pre-teens - and I have even received orders for adult-sized hooded towels.

We have over 50 designs in 20 colors. The hoods are appliqued with a soft, velvety fabric and sewn onto full-sized towels. They are perfect for bath, beach, or pool.

Why Allenstown?

[EDC] What was it that helped you decide to locate your business in Allenstown?

[FnF] One of our partners lives in Pembroke and when this space became available we jumped on it. The space is warm, bright and inviting.

The people in Allenstown have been very supportive. Each person who has visited our shop has been encouraging. In this age of Amazon online shopping, people are very willing to shop locally.

Community Outreach

[EDC] What community outreach activities have you engaged in or plan to engage in?

[FnF] Since we are very new to the area, we have not had the opportunity to participate in many events yet. But we would like to have a table at an event, donate to an event, as well as demonstrate and teach workshops.

Plans for the Near Future

[EDC] What are your business plans for the near future?

[FnF] We would like to become a part of the community and perhaps offer workshops and demonstrations to help keep handcrafting alive.

I have been an instructor for knitting and crocheting, and would be happy pass down the art to anyone (especially the youngsters) who would like to learn.

[EDC] Thank you for taking the time to help the EDC tell Allenstown residents about your new business.

[FnF] You're welcome. Thanks very much for the opportunity to get the word out.
