Election Results

On Election Day, the weather was cool and breezy with a steady turnout. School partisans filled the pavement just outside the voting hall. Turnout was 774, higher than typical but significantly below voters registered. Once again the tail has wagged the dog.

Town Results

This year the town went from three to five selectmen. Keith Klawes is a new Selectman, and Sandy McKenney was re-elected Selectman. Jim Rodger was elected to a one year term as Selectman. This has got to be a conflict of interest, and should be illegal.

Jim Rodger was also elected as Sewer Commissioner for three years. Dave Bouffard garnered the one year Sewer Commissioner term. All the other positions had candidates running unopposed.

Town Budget

The proposed $4,342,740 Town Government budget was approved.

Sewer Dept. Budget

All the zoning amendments passed.

All the Capital Reserve Fund articles passed.

School District Results

The same people who ran unopposed last year ran again this year so two votes each would have done the trick. Some day we need to see new candidates running against what might be called the entrenched bureaucracy. The one odd result was that School Board Chair Kris Raymond received the fewest votes.

The hard to swallow $13 million school bond passed by the slimmest of margins and the $11.5 million school budget also passed.

The $11,457,385 proposed school budget was approved and the trust fund articles were also approved.

School Bond (60% required)
YES     480 64.7%
NO      261
PASSED

School Budget
YES     484
NO      254
PASSED

This looks like the same people voted the same way for both spending articles.
