A Special Meeting to Proclaim Dr. Albee's Decades of Service

Sept. 24, 2020

A number of family and friends gathered at 6 p.m. on September 21st at this unusual Selectman's meeting at the Allenstown Community Center for this special, but belated, occasion to recognize and honor Dr. Charles Albee, founder of Suncook Dental on Route 3 in Pembroke.

Selectman Sandy McKenney opened the meeting with the perfunctory remarks about health safety protocols and the meeting also being accessible online.

Selectman and EDC member Scott McDonald proclaimed that, at long last, this special day had finally arrived after months of delay due to the Wuhan Virus Pandemic. He briefly mentioned the EDC's support for this event and its successful efforts to attract new businesses.

He acknowledged the large number of family and friends who attended the ceremony, including Police Officers Shea and Wilcox.

He applauded Dr. Albee's more than four decades of providing excellent dental care to the residents of Allenstown and Pembroke at his clinic up the hill on Route 3. He stated that Dr. Albee has contributed greatly to the health, wellbeing, and prosperity of all his patients.

Speaking for the Board, Mr. McDonald said they would like to express a deep debt of gratitude to Dr. Albee for his many years of selfless service to the citizens of Allenstown and beyond, and the Board wished him well in his retirement.

As a special touch, his wife, Dolly, was given a bouquet of roses for her part in making the dental practice a successful one. For years, she was the business/office manager, managing pretty much everything behind the scenes.

He then asked Dr. Albee to join him as he unveiled and read the words from a framed proclamation that had been signed by all of the Selectmen.

Dr. Albee thanked everyone for attending and thanked the Select Board for making this event possible.

Dr. Albee noted that he was leaving the practice in the capable hands of his son Andrew, who was attending with his wife and their children. Also in attendance was a new associate, Dr. Brittney Phillips. He also praised Dolly, his wife of almost 41 years, for her lifelong support and encouragement.

As Mr. McDonald and Dr. Albee touched elbows, the friends, family, and visitors in attendance joined in a rousing applause for this most notable citizen.

As people began to leave, one could say that this was truly a family affair.
