A Tree No Longer Grows on Reserve Street

Dateline: July 9, 2022

On Friday morning July 8th, while the NH Demolition crew was removing what was left of St. John's Convent, a crew from Collins Tree Service was across the street cutting down a tall and stately maple tree at the start of Reserve St.

The tree had been the subject of Selectmen's meetings on April 18th and May 2nd. At the April 18th meeting the Road Agent explained that the tree had been growing half in the sidewalk and half in the road. He has had to postpone storm drain repairs due to the presence of the tree and postpone road paving for several years.

Several Reserve St. residents attended the initial meeting and finally decided things have become worse and now approved its removal. The town administrator stated that a 30-day appeal period needed to expire before taklng any action. At the next meeting, they approved of the removal.

In the following photo, the picket fence has been long since removed.

Don't be stumped when you drive by. The tree is no longer there.

What You Can Do

Think fondly of the tree now gone but look forward to the improvements that can now be made for the residents of Reserve Street.
