The 2023 Allenstown-Pembroke Old Home Day Parade

Rain on Friday August 25th did not bode well for the Old Home Day Committee and its determined, hard-working crew of volunteers. Months of planning and preparing might not pay off if the weather did not cooperate. But it cleared up later that day and Saturday promised to be a bright sunny day with temps in the low 80s.
On a few side streets off School Street in Allenstown, scores of marchers, marching bands, decorated floats, farm tractors, fire engines, and antique cars waited for 10 a.m. That would signal the start of the parade that would progress along School St., down Main St. into Suncook Village past throngs of cheering residents, and finally down to Memorial Field.
The following photo collection, taken from a vantage point across from the Allenstown Town Hall, captured much of the parade and gives those who did not attend a sense of the excitement and pride that goes into a small town parade and how much hard work that each group of participants put into their contribution to the success of the event.
